PAHAR GANJ: Photo Essay
When I fly to India I usually land in Delhi. Pahar Ganj ("Main Bazaar') is an area in Old Delhi that is crammed with little shops selling every kind of product, from Aryuveda to Snake Oil, and clusters of low-budget hotels, and cafes and internet centers, and cows and people and motorbikes and noises and dirt and diesel fumes and a huge pulsing throb of humanity. It is impossibly dirty and crowded yet very beautiful also. A visit there is a great way to get a quick take on what products are around this year, use the internet, and also to meet other travellers - some little restaurants will have menus in several languages.
